In August, Singapore approved another 200 megawatts of data centre capacity. That's a fair bit of power for a small island that imports most of its energy.
This piece will take a deep dive into the numbers: how much electricity, land and carbon the sector takes up, how much value it brings in, and by which actors that value is captured. Hopefully, an analysis of whether it's a good deal for Singapore will also materialise.
